ORLANDO, Fla. (July 16, 2015) – FLW, the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Sunny Lake (Beijing) Sport Development, LLC, from China to begin sanctioning FLW bass-fishing tournaments in the Eastern-Asian nation at a contract signing today at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST). The agreement was signed by FLW President of Operations Kathy Fennel and Gang Li, Vice President of the Florida Culture Exchange Association (FCEA) representing Sunny Lake Sport Development.

“We are very excited to bring FLW tournaments to China,” said Gang Li, Vice President of Florida Culture Exchange Association. “The agreement between FLW and the FCEA will be a fantastic partnership that will be a very effective combination of sports media and marketing platforms.”

China will run a series of FLW tournaments that advance anglers, who are citizens of the host country, to a new international division at the Rayovac FLW Series Championship beginning in 2016. Two anglers will compete as pros with FLW providing Ranger boats and two will compete as co-anglers. The top pro award at the Rayovac FLW Series Championship is $95,000, including a Ranger Z518C if the pro is Ranger Cup qualified, and the top co-angler award is a Ranger Z117.

China is the third country to sign on for international sanctioning, joining Canada and South Korea as FLW partners under the new program. The highest finishing pro from the newly introduced International Division at the Rayovac FLW Series Championship will advance to the following year’s Forrest Wood Cup for the chance to compete on the sport’s biggest stage for $500,000 – the biggest payday in bass fishing. FLW will also provide a Ranger boat for use in the Forrest Wood Cup.

“We are thrilled that China has signed on as the third country to begin hosting FLW events,” said Kathy Fennel, FLW President of Operations. “Competitive bass fishing is poised for explosive growth, and FLW is leading the way. We have long touted our anglers as the best in the world, and now with the integration of our new international division in the Rayovac FLW Series we will truly see global competition.”

Additional FLW qualifying tournaments in other countries are forthcoming. Watch FLWFishing.com for details.

MINNEAPOLIS (March 12, 2015) – Named after the founder of Ranger Boats, Forrest L. Wood, FLW introduced its Fishing League Worldwide tagline last year to better reflect its status as the world’s largest tournament fishing organization. Today FLW expanded its presence on the world stage yet again with the introduction of a sanctioning program allowing international partners to license the iconic brand and run FLW tournaments abroad.

Each partner country will run a series of FLW tournaments that advance anglers, who are citizens of the host country, to a new international division at the Rayovac FLW Series Championship beginning in 2016. The highest finisher among countries represented in the international division will then advance to the Forrest Wood Cup, making it the sport’s only true world championship.

“We’ve had a significant international following for years thanks to our worldwide television distribution and the appeal of FLW Fantasy Fishing,” said Trisha Blake, FLW President of Marketing. “Now with dedicated FLW bass tournaments in partner countries we’ve realized our goal of being a truly worldwide organization in terms of both our fan base and competitors. FLW stands alone in providing the very best bass anglers from around the world with an outlet for their competitive ambitions by establishing a clear qualifying path to the Forrest Wood Cup and the sport’s biggest payday.”

Canada has already signed on as FLW’s first partner under the new program and is set to host an FLW tournament in 2015 with at least three events slated in Canada for 2016.

“This is a game changer for Canadian bass anglers,” said Cory Banford, co-owner of the Shootout Series and FLW’s exclusive partner in Canada. “We’ve been very successful with our Shootout Series tournaments over the years, but the opportunity to fish in our home country and qualify for the Rayovac FLW Series Championship and ultimately the Forrest Wood Cup is a life-changing opportunity for Canadian bass anglers.”

Two pros and two co-anglers will represent Canada in the international division at the 2016 Rayovac FLW Series Championship.

“More than money and advancement to the Forrest Wood Cup will be on the line at the 2016 Rayovac FLW Series Championship,” said Kathy Fennel, FLW President of Operations. “With competitors from around the world advancing, anglers are going to be fishing for national pride.”
